Franken, 1550-1580, Lindenholz, vollrund geschnitzt und gefasst, das Jesuskind steht auf einem Baumstamm welcher von einer Schlange umwunden ist, in Ihrem Maul trägt die Schlange einen Apfel, die Frucht des Baumes der Erkenntnis von Gut und Böse, die neben Ihm stehende Maria hält das Kind an Hand und Hüfte, mit leicht erhobenem Kopf und nach vorn gerichtetem Blick. H: ca.30 cm.. Altersspuren und partielle Fehlstellen, Fassung stark berieben, teilw. übergangen.

A RARE REPRESENTATION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD WITH THE CHILD OF JESUS
Franken, 1550-1580, limewood, full-round carved and set, the Jesus child stands on a tree trunk which is wounded by a snake, in its mouth the snake carries an apple, the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the Mary standing next to Him holds the child by hand and hip, with slightly raised head and forward looking gaze. H: ca.30 cm. Signs of age and partial missing parts, the frame strongly rubbed, partly replaced.
