Prachtvolles Werk der frühen Neuzeit über die Kräuterheilkunde, veranschaulicht mit zahlreichen Pflanzenillustrationen, manchmal in Ausschnitten von Hand koloriert. Mit Pflanzen- sowie Krankheitsregister. Unterteilt in 4 Bücher. Mattioli war im 16.Jh. Botaniker sowie Leibarzt Erzherzogs Ferdinands II. von Österreich sowie später Kaiser Maximilians II. Großformatig, im ornamental verzierten Ledereinband, z.T. noch Messingeckbeschläge, Buchschließen fehlend, Beschläge korrodiert, Verfärbungen, Wurmlöcher, fleckig, etliche handschriftliche Einträge (u.a. hist. Apothekereinträge), Einrisse, Abrieb, restauriert. Folglich deutlich erkennbare Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren.
