Das Original entstand in Tours im 15.Jh. und befindet sich heute in der Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. Anne de Bretagne (1477–1514) war u. a. Königin von Frankreich, Sizilien und Jerusalem und Kunstmäzenin. Das kleine Gebetbuch war zum persönlichen Gebrauch als auch für die Erziehung ihres Sohnes, des Dauphins von Frankreich gedacht.
