Die Bronzefabrik Delafontaine wurde im späten 18. Jahrhundert von Jean-Baptiste-Maximilien Delafontaine (geb. 1750) gegründet. Das vorliegende Los wurde unter der Leitung von Jean-Baptistes Enkel Auguste-Maximilien gegossen. Im Jahr 1870 befand sich die Firma in der Rue de L'Université 10. Die Firma stellte dekorative Kunstwerke von höchster Qualität her und war ein Hauptkonkurrent der Gießerei Barbedienne.

Paris, 1860-1890, bronze, fully sculpted, patinated hollow casting, inscribed "Delafontaine und Schanerwerk" H: approx. 45 cm. Signs of age, slightly corroded.
The Delafontaine bronze factory was founded in the late 18th century by Jean-Baptiste-Maximilien Delafontaine (b. 1750). The present lot was cast under the direction of Jean-Baptiste-Maximilien's grandson Auguste-Maximilien. In 1870, the company was located at 10 Rue de L'Université and produced decorative works of art of the highest quality and was a major competitor of the Barbedienne foundry.
